Blogs-&-PodcastsThere three words not normally associated SEO. They quick, cheap, easy. But there one situation where can honestly say these words really do describe optimization process; WordPress blog.

Google loves WordPress because it’s easy spider uses extremely clean code back end. But there’s more…

Google has thing dynamic content lots it. And it doesn’t get much better than WordPress when it comes making Google happy. You don’t have know lot SEO because WordPress sets you up naturally take advantage what Google likes. And you invest bit nice plugin, you can often see results you never even dreamed of.

There just few things know initial setup so I’ll cover them one one.

First, your blog part larger site, name its directory ‘blog’ or ‘topic blog’ ‘topic’ being your main keyword or topic. Don’t name it WordPress.

Second, sure your sites uses ‘www’ its fully qualified domain name (FQDN.) Here’s how.

  1. Login WordPress dashboard.
  2. Go Dashboard > Settings > General.
  3. Edit your WordPress URL Blog URL include www prefix.

Third, set your WordPress use Permalink optimal custom setting. This creates permanent URL that Google can easily reference makes each post into page. Here’s how do it:

  1. Login WordPress dashboard.
  2. Go Dashboard > Options > Permalink.
  3. Select custom option placing /%postname%/ custom field.

Fourth, make each post date easy find. Google loves fresh, relevant information.

Now doing actual posts, here how get biggest SEO bang your buck…

  1. Use your main keyword post title wherever it falls naturally. Make sure it title, don’t force it beginning it does not work. If your keyword ‘lake retreat cabin’ you might have title like ‘Finding Peace at Your Lake Retreat Cabin.’
  2. Try write post naturally use keyword two three times every 100 words post don’t go over 5 mentions total. Also sure use other related words your post. If your keyword ‘lake retreat cabin’ you might use words like ‘view’, ‘wooded’, ‘cottage’, ’stream’, ‘waterfall’, etc.
  3. Keep your posts an appropriate length. Consider each an article. In most simple articles 300 600 words ideal. But don’t drone your point already made. If you only need 250 words say what you want say, end it there.
  4. I know already said it, it’s important enough say again; write naturally. Google invested lot time money its natural text algorithm (NTA) it loves let it weed out blocky text jammed robotic feeling keywords.

Even you do everything else perfectly, there always ways get that extra inside advantage. Here two:

First, sure consistent all your backlinks. If you set your prefix ‘www’ as recommended, make sure all your backlink URLs come into ‘www’ version your pages. If some ‘http’ while others ‘http://www‘ they will treated as separate pages you will throwing away links.

And finally, you can invest forty os so dollars, you might want consider getting high-end WordPress SEO plugin like one at http://www.seopressors.com/. Most pros use unlimited version put it all their client sites, you have just have one blog you can get under $50. There also some freebies out there, this definitely case “You get what you pay for.”

Good luck.
